Miracle, in partnership with the Creative Industries Federation, is thrilled to announce the digital release of its highly acclaimed adaptation of ‘The Tempest’ by William Shakespeare, freely adapted & directed by Bill Scott with original music by Jim Carey on YouTube arts channel, Perspective, on Monday 15 March 7pm GMT.
Having steadily grown a library of filmed productions, Miracle has released several titles for free throughout the pandemic on its own YouTube channel, but this exciting opportunity to premiere ‘The Tempest’ on Perspective will enable Miracle’s work to reach an international audience and help raise funds to support new productions in 2021.
“The pandemic has made reaching new audiences and accessing new sources of income essential for the entire creative sector and this streaming initiative is part of the Creative Industries Federation’s contribution to support creative businesses. As Miracle Theatre get ready for their summer season of outdoor theatre, we’re pleased to be partnering with them to stream The Tempest and we hope to open similar doors for others in the weeks and months to come.” Terry Corby, Chief Commercial Officer, Creative Industries Federation
“Shakespeare wrote plays to entertain people and to be enjoyed by a wide cross-section of the population,” says director Bill Scott. “Miracle shares those aims completely! The Tempest was his last play: concise, rich in poetry and packed with comedy every bit as funny as Father Ted or Faulty Towers.”
So, take a trip with into uncharted waters and find yourself washed up on an enchanted island, twangling with sweet airs and music, humming with sucking bees and the smell of old macs!
With the original text respectfully shaken and stirred, experience Miracle’s offbeat and humorous style with this classic Shakespeare play.
“Made me fall in love with Shakespeare all over again!” Audience feedback
