Miracle Theatre’s Christmas show is coming to a new venue for the first time ever. The company has selected St Ives Guildhall to open their festive performance, which will debut on the 8th of December. Audiences will be treated to a re-imagining of Sleeping Beauty for three evening and two matinee performances.
Introducing a new venue to our Christmas tradition is exciting for multiple reasons! Miracle actors have the opportunity to work with a new space, which by its nature brings fresh energy into a theatre production and raises new and curious questions. For instance, does the history of the space add another element to the show? How is the physical space different and how does that impact the movement and flow of the show? How will audience reactions vary in a new area?
It’s really special for Miracle to be able to bring the Christmas show to new audiences. Perhaps some of you living in the St Ives area have never seen one of our festive pantos and this is a great opportunity to do something local and a little bit different over the winter holidays. Perhaps you used to drive all the way to Falmouth, but now, hurrah, you don’t have to! 😉

And there’s something about the St Ives Guildhall that gives great vibes – probably the community that brings life to the space by using it! The Guildhall has been in its current location on Street An Pol since 1939. Before that it was on Fore Street in a building first founded in 1490 and rebuilt in 1832, giving it a rich history. It has been used as a courthouse, civic meeting place and, of course, community cultural centre with an 85 year history of putting on cultural events – which is what makes it such an excellent space for Sleeping Beauty!
Miracle’s version of this classic tale comes with a twist. Audiences will be transported to the stage of the Cornwall Riviera Holiday Camp in 1959 where the legendary Yellowjackets are bursting to entertain the campers with their mangled version of this classic story; told with a song and a dance; a wink and a nudge!
TR26 Family Tickets: Groups of 2 adults and 2 children (or 1x adult and 3x children) living in the TR26 postcode will also be able to bag a family ticket for only £44 in total to see the show, as a way to welcome in families from the area to share in the festivities.
The St Ives Guildhall box office is open for telephone bookings Mon-Sat 01736 798577.
Tickets can be purchased in person at St Ives Tourist Info & Library Mon-Sat.
