Over the past few months, our Miracle Young Company has been busy getting to know each other while making, performing and experimenting with all things theatre.
From January to April, this brilliant group of young people met each week at The Poly in Falmouth to learn new theatre skills and create work in a space centred on creativity, confidence and having a go. As part of the project, they took part in a series of theatre masterclasses led by Miracle regulars, exploring writing, directing, Shakespeare, design, costume, prop making and technical theatre.
Guided by our Associate Director (Youth), Hannah Stephens, we have seen remarkable growth in a short time. Not just in skills, but in confidence, collaboration and the courage to step forward and be seen.
But do not just take our word for it.
“Hannah really gets each young person involved. She is very insightful and brings out things in each person unexpectedly.” – Parent
“I really liked making new friends, performing on a real stage with professional lighting, and learning from people who are experts in what they do.” – Participant
A huge thank you to everyone who took part, to the families who supported them along the way, to The Poly, and to the local professionals who shared their skills and insight through our masterclasses.
We could not be prouder of what this group has achieved together.
This is what taking part in theatre is all about.
This project is part funded by Cornwall Community Foundation through their Young Minds First fund, supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing.
