At Miracle Theatre we know how important it is to take part in community initiatives to make our slice of the world—and beyond!—a more sustainable place.
Here’s a collection of some wonderful organisations, initiatives and volunteer groups in the places that Miracle Theatre tours: Falmouth, Bristol, Porthtowan, Brighton and greater Cornwall. Please check them out and get involved!
Goonie Growers is a community market garden for St Agnes. They are passionate about sharing with the local community: the experience of growing food; giving as many people as possible the opportunity to eat locally grown veggies; and creating a safe space for the community of St Agnes to come together. You can volunteer at 2pm on Fridays.
Falmouth Food Co-op started as a Food Hub selling groceries with the aim of making good food available to all and supporting local non-industrial farmers.
Plastic Free Falmouth works with the local council, businesses, schools and community to develop ways to reduce single-use plastic.
A growing collective of people from the local community with a huge range of skills and experience, united by a shared common goal: to welcome a family to this area so that they can rebuild their lives.
Chyan Community Field in Penryn aims to involve as many people from their local communities in producing local, organic food, teaching and learning about sustainable living.
Kernow Men’s Society offer the opportunity for local men, who may be dealing with issues such as loneliness, social exclusion and isolation, to come together in a friendly and welcoming environment.
The Three Bays Wildlife group is a voluntary, community led wildlife group in Cornwall that aims to conserve and enhance the special natural environment.
Eden Project Communities mission is to bring people together and encourage them to actively engage with one another and the places where they live.
The Steeple Woodland Nature Reserve is a 40 acre public open space, overlooking St Ives, Cornwall. Visitors can explore the woods, stroll over heathland and discover areas planted with young trees. A variety of activities take place at the reserve, including volunteer work sessions, wildlife surveys, environmental research projects and community events.
St Ives Archive is a registered charity whose aim is to develop and maintain a local historical archive for the benefit and use of the public, covering all aspects of the history, geography, natural history, the arts, architecture and the inhabitants.
#CleanUpBristolHarbour is a monthly event inviting people to come along and pick up the floating rubbish that accumulates in the Bristol harbour. Working closely with the Harbour Office and Bristol Waste, they aim to keep a record of the amount of rubbish collected at each Clean Up and show how this litter affects the beautiful harbour.
St Ives Farmers’ Market is a community venture to help make fresh local produce available in their local area. It also helps reduce food miles, thereby saving energy and cutting pollution, while also helping to provide a livelihood for farmers and producers.
City to Sea is an organisation of scientists, marine biologists and campaigners who are working together to prevent plastic pollution at its source.
Bristol Energy Cooperative is a not for profit community energy organisation. Anyone can invest in them, and your money will be used to build renewable energy projects. Revenues are then channelled into community benefit funds.
Flashlight St. Ives opens up a positive environment, welcoming any person from any background and offers a supporting role to teenagers and young adults who have issues at home, school or with themselves and encourages them to be creative, confident and showed them that anything is possible to achieve.

Co Bikes is the South West’s on demand electric bike scheme, whose electrically assisted bikes make cycling a breeze – even uphill!
