This summer we were lucky enough to have two students with us on placement from Falmouth University Handshake system Their brief – to help us capture the magic and scale of our outdoor tour. This was a win / win arrangement, for our students this was an opportunity to take on a focused brief, contribute to a creative team and develop confidence, for us it was a chance to see our work through fresh eyes
We invited students to capture elements of our tour alongside our work with professional photographers. This gave them a practical brief and space to bring their own creative approach.
Touring theatre offers plenty of photographic variety. Each location brings a different backdrop and atmosphere. Capturing live performance calls for timing and attention to movement, while photographing volunteers and young people focuses on connection and the activity unfolding around them.
Caitlin, photographed our Peer Gynt tour, volunteers and summer youth school, capturing different sides of Miracle. Her images helped us share these activities through our social media, newsletters and communications connected with Arts Council England, giving her work exposure beyond the placement.
Caitlin says -“I think the experience will definitely improve my chances of securing a job in the industry in the future, as it was a unique opportunity to be a part of alongside my studies, and demonstrates taking an initiative to work towards my goals. I’d definitely recommend the experience to everyone who has the opportunity to take on a micro-internship, the team at Miracle are a lovely, welcoming and exciting organisation to work with!”
