Miracle Theatre Casting Call

This winter Miracle Theatre will be casting young actors to perform alongside a professional cast in their touring production St Hilary Calling! This is a huge and exciting opportunity for budding young actors.

St Hilary Calling!  a new play by Zoe Alker, is inspired by true events. In December 1926, the BBC made history with the first live radio outside broadcast, from a remote rural location in Cornwall. Using improvised technology, roving microphones, wires strung across hedgerows and fields, and a farmhouse telephone, the people of a small Cornish village were heard live across Britain. The play places local voices at the heart of a pioneering national experiment, blending faith, technology, and art in a way that resonates far beyond its time.

It explores the dramatic and comic tensions between the visionary yet uncompromising Father Bernard Walke and his devoted but inexperienced parishioners as they navigate the pressures of participating in a groundbreaking live broadcast from their remote church. Alker captures both the humour and humanity of a community thrust into modernity and the dilemmas this created for one extraordinary Priest, a man of unwavering devotion, truth and creativity.

We are looking for 6 young people to be part of the touring production.

You need to be over 14 years old, playing age 10 – 14 years old

Roles:

Kitty aged 12-14 (female presenting)

John aged 12-14 (male presenting)

Tom aged 10-12 (male presenting)

Rehearsals will take place throughout January and will require a significant commitment; rehearsing evenings and Saturdays. 

We will rehearse in a mid-Cornwall location.

The tour will run Feb to early April, with shows mostly taking place on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Shows will be Cornwall-wide.

You will not be required to take part in every performance, as we plan to cast 2 actors for each role so they can alternate to help manage travel and time commitments.

We will be running a fun and light-hearted workshop casting day on Saturday 21^st November, at a mid-Cornwall space location TBC.
